The Town Center Intersection Project will require a 2-day closure of a small portion of Scott Dyer Road (at the intersection with Ocean House Road). Detours for Scott Dyer Road will be established and marked with roadside signage. Motorists are encouraged to use Hill Way during the closure. Businesses in the immediate area (and the library) will remain accessible via-Hill Way/Scott Dyer Road. The closure is tentatively scheduled for Monday, August 10 and Tuesday, August 11.  

Seeking artificial trees
for Fairy Fest! 

With our 3rd annual Fairy Festival just around the corner, we are seeking some extra magic in the form of plants and trees for our enchanted photo booth!

Shrubs, flowers, vines, trees, potted or staked--we'd love to work it into our whimsical weekend event! If you have any faux greenery to lend the library from September 3 - September 7, please contact Sasha: skohan@thomas.lib.me.us.

Join us for a fun-filled, hands-on class from Claire Schreiber that will have you exploring a variety of ways to incorporate herbs, fruits and vegetables into drinks (mocktails and cocktails included!) you can make at home! We will spend time on vinegar shrubs - a fruit-infused vinegar that early settlers used as their own version of a refreshing sports drink.

In addition to shrubs, we'll discuss other creative uses of fruits, herbs, and vegetables in drinks such as flavored simple syrups and lightly touch on the topic of kombucha. This is a very fun class with many opportunities to sample! 

Although registrations to receive samples to take home may have filled up, you don't have to register to attend--all are welcome!

Join us at our weekly Senior Social Hour as we welcome special guest, classical & flamenco guitarist Bruno Panunzio for a live performance. You don't have to be an older adult to attend--all are welcome!

As a recording artist, Bruno Panunzio has has released two solo guitar albums, Tarde Azul (2022) and Sincronismo (2024).

Alongside his performing career, Bruno is a dedicated teacher currently serving as Artist Faculty at the University of Southern Maine, where he teaches guitar and chamber music. He holds degrees in classical guitar from San Francisco State University and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he studied with Lawrence Ferrara and Sergio Assad. Join us at the library for a very special screening of Canoe Dig It?  followed by a Q&A with director, writer, and lead actor Sam Dunning. 

Winner of “Best Maine Film” at the 2025 Maine Outdoor Film Festival, this mockumentary comedy about a fictional canoeing competition in Northern Maine is perfect for any fan of New England, Christopher Guest, summer sports, or Marden’s. The film tracks a handful of quirky and curiously relatable competitors vying for the blue ribbon at the Moosehead Regional Finals. We follow our cadre of diverse canoeists’- a cutthroat perfectionist, a backwoods natural, an aging underdog, a squabbling couple of summer camp owners, and a hard rocking bartender- as they prepare for the big stage (lake). 

Runtime: 78 minutes. Suggested for ages 15+.

Join us for an outdoor coffee-and-pastries book discussion on the hit book and HBO series Big Little Lies, hosted in collaboration with nonprofit organization Finding Our Voices. While conversations about the reality of domestic violence are never easy, we hope that peering into the topic from the lens of popular culture may make it feel more accessible and safer. This discussion also comes on the heels of the August 25 release of Big Little Truths, Liane Moriarty’s long-awaited follow-up to her 2014 hit, and we will have a drawing for a free copy of the new book at this event.

Total of active TML cardholders*: 5,060

Number of nonresident TML cards**: 32

Approximately 56% of eligible residents have an active TML card
(any Cape Elizabeth resident age 5+ can obtain a free TML card.)

*Used within the past three years. 

**Includes those who pay an annual fee of $65, as well as nonresident employees and students.

The TML Foundation has a paid opportunity for contract work as a Data Entry & Management Specialist.
